Memories – Summer Art Exhibit

The third annual exhibit of artwork by Sunday Assembly members, Friends of Wisdom Prairie members, Oblates or monastery volunteers is scheduled for August 5 – October 7, 2018. The monastery Art Jury will choose work for the exhibit based on the Benedictine values of beauty, balance and simplicity. Because of space limitations, only two-dimensional work that can be hung using the existing gallery hanging system will be accepted. Prairie Rhapsody

Prairie Songs: Remembering Ántonia A classic of American literature, My Ántonia by novelist Willa Cather was first published in 1918. To celebrate the anniversary, award-winning composer Brent Edstrom created a song-cycle based on the novel which follows two pioneer children coming of age on the Nebraskan prairie.  The performance will feature Brent Edstrom on piano, tenor Scott Miller and violinist Tana Bachman-Bland. You are invited to join us for the opening reception of the fall art exhibit A Visual Journey. Holy Wisdom Monastery is pleased to feature the watercolors of Ann Herrold-Peterson who views watercolor painting as a visual journey, both for her as the artist, and hopefully for you, the viewer.
