The grounds serve as a living laboratory
and an inspiration
Holy Wisdom Monastery is a “living laboratory” for students and environmentalists. Area environmentalists benefit from the bountiful prairie and our knowledgeable environmental coworkers, gaining invaluable hands-on training to supplement their classroom education. Students of all grade levels frequently join us on site to learn and work together.
We plan to create an outdoor teaching area near the restored prairie, oak savannah and wetland preserve. We also hope to reach out to other environmental organizations. Holy Wisdom Monastery is an environmental educational resource for the greater community.
Friends of Wisdom Prairie
The Friends of Wisdom Prairie, dedicated to caring for the earth at Holy Wisdom Monastery, started in 2014. Friends enjoy walking and working the land, volunteer opportunities in ecological land management, hands-on land management, guided tours to learn about seasonal changes on the prairie, dinner lectures at the monastery by noted speakers and outings to other natural areas to learn how they care for the earth.
