All are welcome

“All guests who present themselves are to be welcomed as Christ.”    –Rule of Benedict

Holy Wisdom Monastery is a place of welcome. We respect all people, and welcome guests with diverse views and customs. Reverence for all guests comes out of the Benedictine tradition of hospitality. We invite you to join those who say, “When I come in the door, it feels like coming home.”

Guests find our peaceful setting ideal for personal retreats, group retreats, meetings and events, weddings, memorial services, retirement parties, family reunions, nature walks and more.

Benedictine life is rooted in a rhythm of prayer. All guests are invited to join us for prayer and worship, regardless of your faith tradition.

Setting

The quiet reconnection to nature our setting provides complements both personal time away and group gatherings. Holy Wisdom Monastery is open year-round.

Holy Wisdom Monastery sits atop a hill overlooking the north shore of Lake Mendota. Just 20 minutes from downtown Madison, Wisconsin we are very close to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the state capitol building, and Governor Nelson State Park.

Life-long learning

Guests are also invited to Holy Wisdom Monastery to learn. We support personal and community growth through spirituality programs and environmental education programs.

Our spiritual guides offers companionship for your spiritual journey. Guests who come for personal retreats often meet with a spiritual guide as part of their retreat.
