Conserving and restoring grassland and savanna ecosystems in an era of global change

Grassland and savanna ecosystems contain lots of biodiversity, but have been lost and degraded at high rates and face new threats due to climate change. This presentation will cover information from long-term observational and experimental studies to document the drivers of change and how restoration and conservation practices can protect these habitats into the future. Join us for the art exhibit opening, Art, Science and Ecological Conscience, featuring the artwork and presentation of nationally renowned landscape and wildlife artist, Terrill Knaack. The exhibit will include his original oil painting, A Prairie Meditation, painted at the Monastery and showcased in the gallery at Holy Wisdom. Sacred Land Retreat

Holy Wisdom Monastery occupies the ancestral homeland of the Ho-Chunk Nation. Join us on Saturday, May 14th to hear Justice Green, a member of the Ho-Chunk Nation, speak about the land where Holy Wisdom stands and the history of the indigenous people there. Join Kids On the Prairie as we check out a Bluebird nest and look for other signs of nesting birds. Find foods that birds feed their nestlings.
