In a recent class with Sister Paz Vital and Novice Denise West, we discussed the Benedictine promise of stability. Sometimes stability is thought of as staying in the same place with the same people for the rest of your life. Stability has that aspect to it, but there is more. Contemplative Landscapes by artist Ann Haberl The exhibit of oil paintings and prints by Madison artist Ann Haberl will open at Holy Wisdom Monastery on Friday, May 5, 2017, with a reception from 5:00-7:00 pm. Ann’s work explores the reverence she feels for the natural world and aligns with the Benedictine values of beauty, balance, simplicity and contemplation. I was turning 40. There was no avoiding it, but for the weeks leading up to my birthday I tried not to indulge a creeping sense of dread.
