All are welcome to join the sisters in daily prayer. The monastery is closed from noon on December 24, 2019 until 8:00 am on January 2, 2020. During this time you are still welcome to come to prayer. The front door of the monastery will be locked. Please ring the bell and someone will let you in. The sisters will only hold morning prayer at 8:00 am and evening prayer at 4:30 pm. The regular prayer schedule will resume on Thursday, January 2, 2020. December 25, 2019-January 1, 2020 8:00 am-8:30 am: Morning Prayer 4:30 pm-4:55 pm: Evening Prayer

Experience inclusive, ecumenical worship at Sunday Assembly Each Sunday, we gather for worship as a community. Through scripture readings, prayer and sharing the Bread of Life around a common table, we respond to Jesus’ invitation, “Do this in memory of me.” Our Assembly shares concern for social justice and peace; we embrace works of charity and care for the earth. For example, we serve dinner at Luke House, a community meal program, on the second Tuesday of the month and donations are collected on the third Sunday of the month for the Vera Court Food Pantry. We are happy to announce that we will be offering a childcare ministry, typically on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month, during the Sunday Assembly liturgy. Adult care takers and teenage helpers will provide care for infants and toddlers in the hospitality room.

Snowshoe Under the Moon Tour

Join us for a tour of Holy Wisdom Monastery land on snowshoes, under the moon.  Sylvia Marek and Greg Armstrong will lead this winter evening tour and we will be on the look out for things natural in the winter.  No registration is necessary, just come. Bring your own snowshoes or borrow a pair from the monastery on a first come, first served basis. Contact Greg Armstrong if you'd like to reserve snowshoes. If there is no snow, we will take a hike instead.

Event Series Children’s Liturgy of the Word

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

All ages are welcome to participate—little ones with a parent, and older students as readers and helpers with the teachers. Children’s Liturgy of the Word is usually scheduled on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. Students are dismissed from worship to hear and learn about the scripture readings at their level. The children return later in the liturgy to receive communion.

The Social Justice Group shares information on many concerns: prison reform, immigration, health care, racism, hunger, poverty, and others.  The focus is to identify ways we can help and support others to be restored to equality and wholeness.  Meetings will be after worship on the second Sunday of the month and we welcome all who are interested to attend. 

Jesus and Buddha: Friends in Conversation

This six-part series will explore how Buddhism might help Christians answer questions about what they really believe regarding the nature and existence of God, the role of Jesus as Son of God and Savior, life-after-death, prayer and spirituality and healing the world. It will be based on Paul Knitter’s book, Without Buddha I Could Not Be a Christian. Meetings will consist of input from Paul Knitter, group discussions and meditations. ECCSR Immersion

Immersion experiences for the Ecumenical Center for Clergy Spiritual Renewal (ECCSR) The cohort of 19 clergy will live and learn together from June 21 – July 1, 2019 and from January 24-29, 2020.
