Join us for an extended silent retreat in which people have opportunities to: Attend the Holy Week liturgies with the sisters and others. Explore the theme of ‘they hear my voice’ through optional meetings for lectio divina (prayerful reading of scripture) and other contemplative engagements with the texts, liturgies and prayers of the week. Rest in the freedom from social expectations to speak or otherwise be engaged. Share a depth experience of the mysteries of Holy Week in a community of people seeking the same. Service at 3:00 pm All gather in silence. The liturgy features the Passion of John. With simple chant, the cross is brought into the midst of the community. Through the veneration of the cross and prayers of intercession, we respond to the Passion of Jesus.
Service at 7:00 pm, followed by social We gather to hear the stories of salvation history. The liturgy continues with the lighting of the new fire and the Easter candle. The Exsultet is sung followed by the Liturgy of the Word, culminating in the great “Alleluia” and the Easter Gospel. The Easter water is blessed, then all join in the profession of faith. 9:00 am Eucharist, followed by coffee and conversation. The day of resurrection continues the joy of the Vigil. We proclaim the Risen Christ in scripture, song, baptismal renewal and Eucharist.
Explore nature’s beauty and surprises! Kids on the Prairie is for children and their adult family members. Experienced volunteer educators and guides will facilitate a short hike to learn about nature and explore the grounds and trails. This free event is open to members of Holy Wisdom communities and the general public. April 14 – Signs of Spring We will look for signs of emergent plants, animals and insects. Come to a Transfer of Leadership to honor and recognize Sister Mary David Walgenbach's many years of creative and transformative leadership as prioress of the sisters' community at Holy Wisdom Monastery. Celebrate and support Sister Lynne Smith as she becomes the new prioress of the sisters' community. You are invited to the Lake Superior Youth Chorus performance at Holy Wisdom Monastery on Monday, June 10 from 3:00-4:00 pm. Artistic Director & Cantemus Conductor, Bret Amundson, has visited Holy Wisdom several time with choirs and offered to perform a free concert for our communities on their way from Duluth, MN to Chicago, IL. “It’s always such a treat to perform and be with your community.” Please join us for the beautiful sounds of the Lake Superior Youth Chorus in the monastery building assembly room and consider staying after for evening prayer at 4:30 pm or hiking through the prairie. ...

Our monarch expert will show us some monarch eggs. We will use magnifiers to find interesting insects on prairie plants. Then we’ll explore the woods to find seasonal berries and learn who eats them.
