5 biweekly sessions, Mondays, 9:30-11:00 am
June 26, July 10, 24, August 7, 21, 2017
In both yoga and Benedictine life, conversion revolves around stability. Each session will physically explore this paradox plus one core Benedictine value through very simple yoga, adapted to be accessible to all, including bodies that have weathered some years. We’ll start with a brief presentation and include discussion time. Featured values will likely include listening, balance, hospitality, humility, and care for creation. Please wear non-restrictive clothing and be prepared to remove shoes. Chair yoga is an option.
Leora Weitzman, PhD, LMT, RYT®-200, is an Oblate and homilist at Holy Wisdom Monastery and a former philosophy professor. Her need for embodied prayer began after her sister’s death in 2003 and led her to study bodywork and yoga. She found by enhancing spiritual stability, physical practice deepens the continuous conversion that makes life a “school for God’s service” in Benedict’s eyes.
