Labyrinths are sacred geometric forms and structures, appearing across time and cultures for at least 4,000 years, ancient symbols of wholeness, growth, and transformation. Today the labyrinth offers a visual, kinesthetic, and physical experience of the Christian articulation of the spiritual path. As we walk in and out of the labyrinth, we are guided through release, illumination, and a return to the world as new beings.
This retreat will include presentations about the history and symbolism of the labyrinth, opportunities to walk it – alone and with other oblates, and also opportunities for artistic expressions creating mandalas. There will be time set apart for oblate integration circles and also free time to enjoy the prairie, the woodlands and lake, the liturgy of the hours, and of course, each other’s company.
Oblates who cannot be present at the monastery for this retreat will find many ways to participate virtually:
If you register as a virtual participant, special instructions, Zoom links, and other information will be sent to you prior to the retreat. So please mark these days on your calendar and register, even if you cannot make a pilgrimage to the monastery. The symbolism of the labyrinth will make it possible for all the oblates to walk together.
