Grounded: Ten Million Four Hundred Thousand Steps Through Grief to Healing
You are invited to attend the opening reception of Grounded: Ten Million Four Hundred Thousand Steps Through Grief to Healing – the newest art exhibit at Holy Wisdom Monastery featuring the photographs of Carolyn S. Knorr. Light refreshments will be served.
All the photos in this exhibit were taken within a ten-mile radius of her home in Middleton. Through her photos of prairies, oak savannas and wetlands, Carolyn explores the cycles of change, the intricacies of balance, and the essence of resilience.

6:30 pm – Carolyn Knorr will give a brief talk about her work and answer questions
8:00 pm – Reception ends
Artist – Carolyn Knorr
Carolyn grew up in Wisconsin and earned a BS in Landscape Architecture from UW-Madison in 1991. While working in that field, Carolyn continued to explore her artistic side through photography and painting. In 2021, Carolyn began the Master of Fine Arts program at Maine Media College in Rockport, Maine, and completed the program in November of 2024. The exhibit’s title, which is also the title of her master’s thesis, is in honor and remembrance of her sister who passed away from cancer in 2014. “It is the approximate number of steps I have walked grieving the loss of my sister.” In addition to receiving many awards, Carolyn has had numerous solo, juried, group and collaborative exhibits both nationally and internationally.
