The Holy Wisdom Social Justice Group welcomes a family from the Sikh tradition. This will be a chance to discuss how they view life in Wisconsin. Harvinder Singe and Jatinder Kauer were born in Punjab, India, but are now American citizens and have lived in the US for 17 years. They are owners of a business in Portage, Wisconsin. Harvinder is a fourth generation priest. He serves as volunteer priest and musician at the Sikh Temple in Madison. The Sikh Society joins in the community by serving meals at Porchlight, an organization that “strives to decrease the homeless population by providing shelter, housing, supportive services and a sense of community,” and by taking food to a pantry.
The social justice group invites guest speakers to discuss social justice issues on the first Sunday of the month in the monastery board room. All are welcome.
