Whether you’re a seasoned meditator or completely new to the practice, this offering provides a safe and accessible pathway to exploring mindfulness and meditation while experiencing sound bowls and frequencies in alignment with love, peace and global healing. We welcome all peace seekers ages 18 and above who desire to be in community with like-minded souls dedicated to making the world a better place.

During our time we will:

• Practice stillness and self awareness through mindfulness play.
• Reconnect with Mother Earth and our ancestors through peace and love.
• Allow our bodies and minds to rest and reorient to our own personal spaces of peace and love through experiencing crystal sound bowl healing and layers of healing frequencies.
• Illuminate the infinite peace and love in each of us individually that connects us collectively though spiritually guided meditations.
• Practice self reflection and allow space to explore and journal what surfaces as you choose peace.

Please bring the following items to make the most of your meditation:

• Comfortable clothing: breathable, flexible garments for various temperatures. Light layers are suggested.
• Blanket, pillow, yoga mat: create a comfortable space to rest by having your own items to support your body needs.
• Journal: any journal or notebook (and writing utensil) will do to capture your reflections.
• Water bottle/personal beverage: hydrate!
• Personal care items: natural toiletries, sunscreen and insect repellent (if meditation will be outside)
• You may choose your position of comfort during the meditation. Chairs are available for use if needed. Please bring any additional personal items you may require to comfortably sit or lay down for two hours.
• Open mind and heart ready and willing to explore within how we can choose love and peace in our own lives.

The following is excerpted from an article entitled “Churches join in celebration of ‘Revelations of Divine Love’” by Madoc Cairns in the May 20, 2023, issue of The Tablet. I am touched by this ecumenical celebration of the English mystic, Julian of Norwich, and the Pope’s prayer for consolation and strength based on her writings.

“Julian, an anchorite, or enclosed hermit, living in Norwich in the fourteenth to fifteenth century, began receiving visions of Christ’s Passion in 1373 when she was 30 years old. The Revelations of Divine Love is the oldest surviving work by a woman writer in the English language.

A Papal message and blessing marking the 650th year since the medieval mystic Julian of Norwich received her Revelations of Divine Love has been sent to all those participating in commemorations. The Pope’s blessing, sent to both the Catholic Bishop of East Anglia and the Church of England Bishop of Norwich was read out at a special service in Norwich Anglican Cathedral [on] Sunday, 14 May.

In a joint statement, Bishop Peter Collins and his Anglican counterpart, Graham Usher, stated they were ‘very grateful’ to the Pope for his blessing and ‘delighted that Catholics, Anglicans and Christians of other denominations will be coming together to pray and be inspired by Julian’s life and witness’.

Referring to Julian’s famous apprehension in a vision that ‘all manner of thing shall be well’, the Pope added that he prayed ‘all who face the pressing challenges of war, injustice, ecological disaster or spiritual poverty, may be consoled and strengthened by these enduring words of wisdom’.”

Madison, WI – In solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community, a diverse group of affirming religious organizations and community partners will unite for Madison’s first Pride Interfaith Service on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Madison from 5:00-8:00 pm. This event is open to the public.

The planners of this event feel the need to speak queer affirmation loudly. Rabbi Bonnie Margulis, Executive Director of Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice, explains that “for far too long, faith communities have been a source of pain and discrimination for the LGBTQIA+ community.”

This event addresses the pain and harm caused by religious institutions, but also celebrates queer joy and love. It begins at 5:00 pm for a time of food and fellowship, featuring the Holy Cow Food Truck and local LGBTQIA+ organizations, followed by the Pride Interfaith Service at 6:30 pm. The service can also be viewed online at live.firstbaptistmadison.org.

Rev. Tim Schaefer, pastor of First Baptist, says, “As an openly queer pastor, I have experienced the Church as both a source of my trauma and a source of my liberation. This service is our way of acknowledging the complicated relationship our faith communities have with the LGBTQIA+ community.”

Charles McLimans, a gay faith leader and CEO of Holy Wisdom Monastery is proud to serve as one of the organizers of the Pride Interfaith Service, “As we strive for greater inclusivity in the world and in the church, we wish to lift up the LGBTQIA+ community at this event and welcome all who wish to celebrate and support us.”
