Living Into Silence:
Contemplative Practices for Lent

New to Lent or contemplative practices? All are welcome to learn the basics of spiritual practices in this virtual series. Together, let’s lean away from the stress of life, focus on your personal needs so you can be present to yourself and others, nurture your spirit and learn how to use silence.

Experience:

  • Guidance from Benedictine sisters and an oblate – simple practices in a low-stress environment
  • Being with others as you seek renewal in your spiritual journey 
  • A variety of practices to choose from so you can choose one that suits you
  • Answers to questions like What do I do on a retreat? What practices can I do on my own at home?

Speakers

Sister Lynne Smith is an ordained Presbyterian minister and has been a sister at Holy Wisdom Monastery for 20 years. She is a spiritual guide, assists with the liturgy and leads retreats at the monastery. She enjoys vegetable gardening and walking the trails on the monastery grounds.

 

Camille Banks is an Oblate of Holy Wisdom Monastery. She leads retreats and workshops and offers spiritual direction. Born in Milwaukee, she has spent the last 50 years in the little town of Kaukauna, Wisconsin with her school-teacher husband and six children. Now a grandmother to 11, she enjoys her big flower garden and has the ambition to hike the Ice Age Trail in little bits.

 

Sister Denise West is a first professed sister of Holy Wisdom Monastery. Denise enjoys working in the garden, tending to the houseplants, sharing her love of Benedictine spirituality and welcoming guests of all ages to the monastery.

Series cost is $25/computer.
