SUMMARY:Holy Week Silent Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an extended silent retreat in which people have opportunities to: \n\nAttend the Holy Week liturgies with the sisters and others.\nExplore the theme of ‘they hear my voice’ through optional meetings for lectio divina (prayerful reading of scripture) and other contemplative engagements with the texts\, liturgies and prayers of the week.\nRest in the freedom from social expectations to speak or otherwise be engaged.\nShare a depth experience of the mysteries of Holy Week in a community of people seeking the same.\n\nFacilitator\nPam Shellberg is the director of spiritual nourishment at Holy Wisdom Monastery and facilitates the Holy Week Silent Retreat. \nAs a scripture scholar and educator\, she is eager to invite people into a deeper appreciation of the texts that shape the Holy Week liturgies. As someone with a contemplative spirit\, she is eager to co-create with retreatants a rich and meaningful experience of silence. \n\nCost\n$340/person\, includes overnights on Thursday\, Friday and Saturday; dinners on Thursday\, Friday and Saturday; lunches on Friday and Saturday; and breakfasts on Friday\, Saturday and Sunday. \nRegistration\nRegister by March 21\, 2024. \nA limited number of rooms are available for this retreat and registration will close once the rooms are full. \nThere is a 75% refund for cancellations before the March 21 registration deadline\, a 50% refund after the registration deadline until March 28\, 2024.

DESCRIPTION:Volunteers are essential partners in our environmental stewardship. Consider joining us for Wisdom Prairie Workdays and volunteer in the restored prairies\, savannas and woodlands at Holy Wisdom Monastery to sustain your spirit and the land. Activities shift seasonally\, with common projects including invasive species removal and seed collecting. \n2024 Wisdom Prairie Workdays\nVolunteer workdays take place year-round on Wednesdays from 9:00-11:30 am. Meet at the kiosk at the top of the monastery building parking lot. Come for all or part of the workday. \nPlease register by emailing Amy Alstad\, aalstad@holywisdommonastery.org. \n________________________________________ \nWhat if none of the workdays don’t align with my schedule?\nConsider coming for a walk on the trails whenever your availability permits. We could always use your help monitoring trail conditions! \nGoals for our trail monitoring program include: \n\nEarly detection of trail issues\nCollecting data on number of trail users\nDiversifying opportunities for volunteers\n\nProtocol for trail monitoring is simple: \nWalk a section – or two or all – of the Holy Wisdom trails and report what you encounter using a simple online form. For now\, this is a purely a monitoring program.
