DESCRIPTION:Volunteers are essential partners in our environmental stewardship. Consider joining us for Wisdom Prairie Workdays and volunteer in the restored prairies\, savannas and woodlands at Holy Wisdom Monastery to sustain your spirit and the land. Activities shift seasonally\, with common projects including invasive species removal and seed collecting. \n2024 Wisdom Prairie Workdays\nVolunteer workdays take place year-round on Wednesdays from 9:00-11:30 am. Meet at the kiosk at the top of the monastery building parking lot. Come for all or part of the workday. \nPlease register by emailing Amy Alstad\, aalstad@holywisdommonastery.org. \n________________________________________ \nWhat if none of the workdays don’t align with my schedule?\nConsider coming for a walk on the trails whenever your availability permits. We could always use your help monitoring trail conditions! \nGoals for our trail monitoring program include: \n\nEarly detection of trail issues\nCollecting data on number of trail users\nDiversifying opportunities for volunteers\n\nProtocol for trail monitoring is simple: \nWalk a section – or two or all – of the Holy Wisdom trails and report what you encounter using a simple online form. For now\, this is a purely a monitoring program. DESCRIPTION:Go Without Hesitation: Lent Series with Pam Shellberg (online)\nThis online series is full. There is still room in the in-person series on Tuesdays from 10:00-11:30 am. Register below. \nJoin us for a 5-week study of a gripping tale from the New Testament book of Acts where Peter\, Jesus’ disciple\, and Cornelius\, a Roman centurion\, present us with a historical diorama of conflicts mirroring back to us how perceiving God’s will and knowing how to respond is rarely straightforward. \nThe story guides us in the ways of discerning God’s purposes\, asking us to bravely sit with questions we might have about God’s purposes and our faith commitments in the midst of change and transition. \nIt marks out ways that we can\, together\, discern truth in our doubts and confusions and hear God’s wisdom in our more vulnerable times. The Spirit directs Peter – and us – to go without hesitation! And so\, we will go\, unhesitatingly\, to live and love in the power and promise of the Holy One. \nWe’ll meet one time per week (Tuesday mornings in-person or Wednesday evenings via Zoom). The sessions will be part study\, part small group sharing and reflection and part lectio divina and contemplation. \nSchedule\n\n6:30 – 8:00 pm for the virtual session on Wednesday nights via Zoom\n\nLeader\nPam Shellberg is the director of spiritual nourishment at Holy Wisdom Monastery. She is presenting this event because: \n\nIt is a good story for times of change and transition when God’s purposes are not so clear and when doubts\, confusions\, vulnerabilities cast shadows across one’s faith commitments.\nBible study is part of the balance of Benedictine life.\nLent is a season of preparation for new life in Christ\, and it is well for us to turn to sacred texts to examine the unexpected paths to that new life\, challenges and demands.\nPam has been an assistant professor of New Testament and eager share from her learning and experience.\n\nDates/times\n\nWednesdays\, 6:30-8:00 pm on Zoom\nFeb. 21\, 28; March 6\, 13\, 20\n\nCost\n$25/person \nRegister\nPlease register by Wed.\, Feb. 14\, 2024.
