SUMMARY:Conversations About Our Benedictine Life: Work
DESCRIPTION:Deepen your understanding of Benedictine spirituality by joining us for one or more Conversations About Our Benedictine Life: Work. These gatherings offer time for reflection\, for the contemplation of short readings about the nature of work and its place in our lives from the Rule of Benedict and other wise authors\, and the goodness of being part of the shared way of Benedictine life. Benedictine monastic life follows a rhythm of work\, study\, prayer\, and rest; work has a place but is not the whole\, is not the central element – it finds its place in a rhythm of balance that can bring depth and peace to our days. Come listen to Benedict and each other with the ears of your heart; explore the challenges and the gifts of work in our lives. \nThe conversations follow an easy flow of readings and small group conversation in the context of Benedictine practices of statio (silent pauses) and lectio divina (sacred reading – slow and meditative). DESCRIPTION:Centering Prayer Groups \nAll are welcome to join our two centering prayer groups which meet on alternating Wednesdays. Both incorporate a short reading and time for silent prayer or meditation. \n\n1st and 3rd Wednesdays\n\n7:00-8:00 pm\nRetreat & Guest House Room 10\nIncludes a short walking meditation in between periods of seated meditation\nFor more information contact Barb Abbott\, 608-284-7424\n\n\n2nd and 4th Wednesdays \n\n2:30-3:30 pm\nMonastery Oratory –\nTwo\, 20-minute periods of seated meditation with a 5-minute break\nFor more information contact Carole Kretschman\, 608-577-3243\n\n\n\nWe feel the presence of the Holy One even more strongly than when we center by ourselves. … Our prayer has less outward distractions for that hour than if we center at home. … Having the group supports us in our prayer life.
