SUMMARY:Ash Wednesday
DESCRIPTION:On Ash Wednesday\, March 5th all are invited to join the sisters for midday prayer with ashes at 11:45 am in the Oratory. You may also join us in the Assembly Room at 5:30 pm for the Liturgy of the Word with ashes. The choir will sing.\n\nOur Lenten practice at the monastery throughout the season of Lent and Holy Week\, is that silence be observed in the Assembly Room 10 minutes before Sunday Assembly Liturgy begins. We suggest using this time to center ourselves before our Creator. The greeters will keep the doors of the Assembly Room closed so that conversation in the gathering area does not disrupt this important time of prayer.

SUMMARY:Winter Rest: A Seasonal Retreat

It will open the space to consider how winter prepares us for the other seasons of our lives\, to rest in deep quietude\, to be held by the stillness of the prairie. \nConversations about the season\, walks on the prairie\, a long winter’s nap\, art\, movement\, journaling\, great meals and warm beds will all be a part of what you can expect when you arrive. A renewed connection to yourself and to nature is what you can expect to take with you when you leave. \nFacilitated by Amy Alstad and Pam Shellberg \nDates & Times\nJanuary 10-11\, 2025\nArrive between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm on January 10th to check into your room. The retreat will conclude at 4:00 pm on Saturday\, January 11th. \nCost\n$245/person\n$200/person early bird special if you register by Nov. 29\, 2024 \nThe cost of the retreat includes program\, meals (Friday dinner\, Saturday breakfast and Saturday lunch) and overnight room. \nRegister\nThe retreat is full. After that\, a 50% refund is available. \nSeasonal Retreats\nThree more seasonal retreats will be offered in 2025. Like Winter Rest\, they will open spaces where each different season can offer its unique wisdom to us in the changing seasons of our lives. Each retreat is a two-day\, one-night experience at Holy Wisdom with cozy accommodations\, delicious meals\, spacious time periods for solitude\, reading and rest and contemplative conversations with other retreatants. There will also be a variety of opportunities to explore the prairies and the season and discover their gifts for you. \n\nSpring Emergence – April 2-3\, 2025 (W/Th)\nSummer Plentitude – July 11-12\, 2025 (F/Sa)\nFall Fallowing – November 21-22\, 2025 (F/Sa)\n\nMore information and registration coming soon for these upcoming retreats.

SUMMARY:Advent: To Seek and to Save the Lost (virtual)
DESCRIPTION:The Advent season returns us to the incarnation of the Christ-spirit and its power to restore us in hope and renew us in purpose. This series takes its starting point from the Gospel of Luke where Jesus says he has come “to seek and to save the lost.” Sometimes the language of saving doesn’t always set easily with us. Nor does the suggestion that we are somehow lost! Yet\, in setting aside time to listen with the ear of our hearts to Jesus\, to Luke\, to each other and to our own inner longings – we may find ourselves newly inspired by the Christ-spirit\, who speaks what we most need to hear and promises to preserve us in love. \n90-minute sessions will include some teaching\, small group discussion\, contemplative dialogue\, and a time for meditation. \nDates/times\nThis three-week Advent series will be offered in-person on Tuesdays from 10:00-11:30 am or virtually on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00 pm. \nIn-person (Tuesdays\, 10:00-11:30 am)\n\nDec 3\nDec 10\nDec 17\n\nVirtually (Wednesdays\, 6:30-8:00 pm)\n\nDec. 4\nDec. 11\nDec. 18\n\nSpeaker – Pam Shellberg\n\nPam Shellberg is the director of spiritual nourishment at Holy Wisdom monastery\, a contemplative\, a student of the Christian scriptures and a spiritual director. \nCost\n$35/person \n  \nRegister\nPlease register by Dec. 2\, 2024.
