SUMMARY:Faith in Action – HR1\, One Big Beautiful Budget Bill
DESCRIPTION:We have an opportunity to learn more about HR 1\, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act\, passed by our federal representatives on July 4\, 2025. HR 1 is having an unjust impact on children\, older adults\, people with disabilities and our environment in Dane County. Some of the impact is already being felt through the SNAP/WIC (food share) programs with families and our food pantries. \nWe can be in community with one another as we educate ourselves\, express our concerns\, and respond through specific letters to our Dane County Supervisors. Through these actions\, we become a community of advocates working together for justice and the well-being of our neighbors. \nPlease join Rex Piercy and Sally Bowers as they present information about HR 1 and the importance of letter writing. We will also take action together by writing letters to our Dane County Supervisors about the impact of HR 1 on our community. If you do not know your supervisor – no worry – we can find it for you as you write your letter. \nSee you Sunday in the monastery boardroom!

DESCRIPTION:Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation that allows one to embrace the fullness of life by moving through the various embodied layers of awareness. It creates a sense of deep peace\, relaxation and nourishes resilience to deal with the stressors of everyday life. The practice has been found to regulate one’s nervous system to facilitate improved sleep and enhance overall wellbeing. \nSchedule\n\nIntroduction & Intentions\nGuided Yoga Nidra Meditation\nSharing of Experiences & Silence\n\nThis experience is open for people age 16 years and older. \nLeader\n \nIris Mickey is a Certified iRest Yoga Nidra Teacher and a Certified Yoga Therapist. She has spent her whole adult life working in various fields in the Healing Arts. Iris is grateful for the depth of knowledge that her many teachers have shared with her and brings those teachings to everyday life through yoga\, qigong\, yoga nidra\, voice as a yoga practice and individual and group sound immersion experiences. \nCost\n$37/person \nRegistration\nThe registration deadline for this event is Sep. 19\, 2026.
