Donna Carnes, a trained psychologist and survivor of major life trauma, has developed this four-part workshop for women who are open to exploring the relationship between the individual self, life trauma and resilience—all in the context of our current cultural surroundings. During the 90-minute sessions, members of this small group are invited to share their personal experiences and coping strategies, including “favorite things” such as food, music, books, storytelling, and spirituality. Through this supportive and relational group discovery process, participants are guided to help each other gain insight and begin integrating new ideas for coping with trauma in their own lives, and in the lives of those around them.
Speaker
Donna Carnes grew up in Middleton, Wisconsin and then went out into the wide world where she gained experience and education abroad and in California. She has had three different, but ultimately inter-related career paths: clinical psychology, teaching and high-tech startups. When she is not traveling, she resides in the Madison area with two Zen greyhounds, spending her days writing poetry, cooking, running, cross country skiing, and helping people when and where she can.
