A Day Away to Listen to the Earth
“Listen” is the first word in the Rule of Benedict. St. Benedict begins by urging us to listen with the ear of our heart. This day of retreat will turn our listening hearts to the earth, our common home. We will tune our hearts and deepen our listening to the earth through silence, contemplative prayer, group prayer, contemplative dialogue and direct encounter with the land at Holy Wisdom Monastery. This is a opportunity for participants to settle into interior and exterior silence, and to listen for the gentle voice of the earth. Participants are encouraged to bring their journals, art materials, and any other resources they use for their own interior work. They should also bring clothes that are suitable for walking outdoors. Snowshoes are available at the monastery.
This retreat is open for women and men.
